Our Story

Across Borders, Across Cultures

Sightseeing India

The founders of Lunar Laundry once took a trip to India. They had heard much about the country and wanted to experience it themselves. They were captivated by its culture and beauty. From the hustle and bustle of the cities to the calmness and serenity of the hills and villages, India truly amazed them. They roamed in search of the most amazing places to explore and experienced all India had to offer.

They spent some time in a small village in the North where they were taken in by the warm hospitality of the locals. They stayed at a homestay, befriending a man there – Raj. Raj’s family owns a business crafting handmade silk clothes. Raj was very proud of his family’s legacy and he wanted to show the brothers the process. They became great friends with the family, and soon, the friendship blossomed into a business relationship.

Soon after, the Indian government announced a nationwide lockdown. This was a difficult time for everyone, including the family that the brothers had grown so close to. But despite the hardship, they remained close.

The founders returned to the UK with a newfound appreciation for the people and culture of India. They had gained a deep understanding of the beauty of the land and the craftsmanship of its people. Though they had only been in India for a few months, their bond with the family had been strong and lasting. Today, they continue to work with the family on their handmade silk fabric business. They are proud to be part of the process, and their friendship with the family is stronger than ever.
